This one is a new feature that has been added to Facebook today itself. You can now opt to show your Facebook page (could be any business or community or any other page that you have created) on your Facebook profile itself.
All the wall postings of your Facebook page will be shown on your Facebook profile page. So, in a sense your profile will be impersonating your Facebook business page.
Feeling Confused? Consider this example: You have an account on Facebook with your name like Maahi Gupta and have your photographs and profile. Now when you log in to facebook, you see your Facebook profile (with your wall postings and messages) by default. If you have created any Facebook pages (like a page for your business or community or any other purpose, then unless you have created a separate account for the page, you are Admin of that page). Now if you want to show this page on your facebook profile itself, you can do so using the above new option. If you opt for this impersonation, your profile's wall and other messages won't be shown to you.
How to impersonate your Facebook page
There are two ways to do it:
- Go to your Facebook Page (the one you want to impersonate) and choose the option 'Use facebook as [Your page name]' as shown above in the picture. As soon as you opt for this feature, your Facebook profile will start looking like your Facebook page and not your profile.
- The second option is to choose the Facebook page from your profile itself. Choose 'Account' and then 'Use facebook as page'. This will display a list of all Facebook pages that you have created. You can choose any one to impersonate.
Your Facebook profile will turn into the Facebook business page as this:
Stop Impersonating
Don't worry, the facebook page impersonation can be easily reverted back if you don't like it. Simple go to your 'Account' and select 'Switch back to [your name]' and you will start seeing your original Facebook profile as earlier:
Some important points
- Even though you have opted to impersonate a Facebook page, your friends and other people will still see your Facebook profile when they come looking for you.
- As soon as you log out of Facebook, the profile page is back to itself. i.e. you impersonation is gone. Hence, you need to impersonate again on fresh log in session. I am not sure if this is the intended behavior of this feature or if this is a bug! I expected the Facebook to remember my settings but it is not doing so.
I hope this explanation would have explained the concept. If not, just write in your doubts in comments and i will try to solve them.
