I just noticed an interesting thing in the Google ADs and wanted to share it here. The phone number in the AD was actually converted to a drop down box which had options of calling that number right from there using Skype!!

I had not seen this feature before in any of the Google ADS and hence thought that google might be testing a new feature in collaboration with Skype.

But, after a bit of searching and head hunting, I found that it is actually the Skype extension for browser (Chrome in this case) was doing the dance in background!

The skype extension was automatically turning the phone numbers into the drop downs to help the user call directly and make some money!
Clever idea with good implementation to make life easier for the end user along with bringing him one step closer to Skype.

You can easily turn on or off this option with Skype extension by clicking on Skype icon on menu bar of Chrome browser. Then check or uncheck the checkBox to enable or disable the phone number highlighting option:
